Bitcomet Torrents: A Comprehensive Review of Features and Performance

Not yet, though they could if they wished to. Torrent Exchange was added in BitComet version 0.86 (under the name of Torrent Share). Other clients have not implemented Torrent Exchange, so torrents can't be shared with other clients, with versions of BitComet before 0.86, or with clients which have it disabled.

No. When you share torrents, the only information exchanged with other clients will be the torrent task's name, its size and its computed InfoHash. No other information is sent. In particular, your client's IP address is not included. Torrent Share uses the DHT Network, not the peers list.

There are two ways to enable Torrent Exchange. (Both methods allow you to receive torrents that others have shared, but do not implicitly share any of your torrents. You must take the further step of selecting the torrents that you wish to share.)

No. Remember, BitComet does not send client-identification information in Torrent Share, so there is no way to tell who a shared torrent came from. You CAN hide and reveal individual torrents on your own collections list, which is convenient but not at all the same thing as blocking someone.

Torrent files are small and don't take up much disk space, no matter how big the downloads they reference may be. It's a good idea to keep them until you are utterly certain that you will never need them again. Deleting old torrents may become a part of your regular monthly computer maintenance and hygiene.

In general, you should try to find a compromise between the piece size and the resulting size of the .torrent file, but as a thumb rule try not to get over 1MB piece size even for very big file-sets. If your .torrent file gets too big, then it's a sign that you should probably split your file-set and upload it in different, related torrents (e.g. MyContent - Part I.torrent, MyContent - Part II.torrent etc.)

Whenever you add a BitTorrent task into BitComet, granted that the respective option on the Options page is enabled, a copy of the torrent file is stored in your Torrent History subfolder. That copy remains, even after the task is deleted, unless you check the Also Remove from Torrent History option when you delete the task. The Torrent History list is where you can retrieve torrents if you need them again. You should examine the history subfolder periodically and delete torrent files from it that you are certain you won't need any longer.

You may choose to enable/disable all your newly added torrents being copied to Torrent History, by ticking/un-ticking the checkbox in "Options-->Task-->BitTorrent" (BT task in older versions): Add to Torrent History when opening .torrent file.

Hello forum, this is not the first time that this has happened. I had a torrent task on my bitcomet for completed and uncompleted torrents, but after I restarted my pc yesterday some settings on my pc randomly changed without me changing anything, for example on my bitcomet, my tasklist has disappeared, and i dont know how to get it back and to resume my downloads

I have some torrent files on my pc, but i usually use the ''open'' option before downloading a torrent so i dont know if all my torrent files havve been saved, so i dont know if i have all my torrents in one place. Also i dont know where they are located...

this is a common issue associated with improper shutdown of bitcomet. You should always click on "file" then "exit bitcomet" to properly shut down, but fortunately bitcomet saves upto 10 sequential backups of your "downloads.xml" file. It's location is dependent on what windows version you are using and the user account settings you use, but you can probably find it in your %appdata% folder (copy "%appdata%" to your address bar on any folder, then look for the bitcomet folder.

Well I have found some torrent history i think its in a file called ''torrents'' and i hashed the downloads and it seems to be back to normal, i luckily took screenshots of all my list and downloads before this happened so i know which files are supposed to be in the list, since i have history from previous lists...

I have a file called Downloads.xml.bak, but i was unable to open it because bitcomet says its not the same format, and was told to open it when i firstly opened bitcomet after the restart and after i noticed the list was blank, to tell you the truth, i dont remember if i pressed the shut down button manually or if i pressed restart on that day because i remember having a problem with my pc, it seemed like someone was remotely controlling my pc....i dont know what was going on, but i dont remember if this problem came before or after i pressed the shut down button manually on my pc

When it comes to downloading files online, there's a variety of ways to go about it. One of the more controversial methods, due to the potential for copyright infringement, is using BitTorrent files, also commonly referred to as torrents. When you download a torrent file using a client such as BitComet, uploading plays just as much of a role as downloading content.

When people talk about torrents, they typically discuss the high download speeds associated with the file type. But uploading also plays a large part in how torrents function. When you download a torrent file, BitComet and other torrent clients simultaneously upload pieces of the file to other users. Even after the entire file is downloaded, you client will continue to upload the file to others until you remove it from your torrent client. The more people uploading pieces of the file, the more options downloaders have and the higher speeds torrent clients can achieve.

While torrent files themselves aren't illegal, much of the content that torrent tracking files exist for is protected by copyright. Torrent websites can connect to computers hosting movies, music and software programs that are copyrighted and being given away for free. This is illegal. Never download for free a torrent file for something that's sold in a store. However, torrents are perfectly legal for files and media that are made for free distribution, as well as public domain media.

On the other hand, if you mean to share with others files which you have on your local storage media but which are not described by tasks already present in your Task List, then you should look into making and uploading torrents into the BitTorrent Network. For that you can find a pretty detailed guide here: Making torrents with BitComet.

A value of special interest is the info-hash, which is a hash value calculated for the info key of the .torrent file and which uniquely identifies that torrent on the Internet. Most index sites display that value for each torrent they index, as does BitComet too for any torrent in its Task List, on its Summary tab. This way (by info-hash) a torrent can be quickly tracked down on multiple index sites or other Internet locations without regard to it's name, thus easily avoiding fake torrents which try to impersonate a valid one by using the same filename.

A tracker server should not be mistaken with and should be differentiated from a BitTorrent index server. A BitTorrent index is a server which contains a list of .torrent files, usually including descriptions and other information and which will serve the actual .torrent files to anyone who will choose to download something from the list.Trackers merely coordinate communication between peers attempting to download the payload of the torrents.

Many BitTorrent websites act as both tracker and index. Sites such as these publicize the tracker's URL and allow users to publish (upload) torrents to the index with the tracker's URL embedded in them, providing all the features necessary to initiate a download.

After it's got one node, your client can use the DHT Network to find other nodes (until it updates/seeds its routing table) and afterwards it can use them to retrieve peers for its running tasks, using the info-hash values of the torrents for queries. As opposed to this, in the conventional tracker approach, your client needs to communicate with the tracker to learn about each additional peer added. See also: Using DHT tracker.

Of course for those who want the website is available videotutorial.ro torrent search engine (search engine torrents) which is very fast and that we along with a Google project I set up especially for you and is free for all world, the search engine torrent contains some filters at the top to be able to separate the results based on search options, search is recognized and highly valued trackers that we have selected.

Hi, I also have a problem with torrents, everyone: D, at bitcomet it tells me down that the port is blocked (please do not download the other programs), I searched on google and I arrived on a forwoard port site , I downloaded a program from there: "PF Config" but I do not know how and what to select and which routers or ports to put. thank you.

Greeting the apex Adi.Mersi for this tutorial, but I think I expressed myself with strong dc stiu.Lucrurile gresit.Cum is that I asked for here were using strong dc bitcomet.Eu do not understand how it is with upload the torente.Cum give others take from us or how to do torrents? And if I 7 KIS modem and I have a problem and should be changed ceva.Mersi and sorry if I did not well understood.

The above regarding Ratie are not valid on free trackers, like isohunt, mininova stay there to seed if you want but from a moral point of view it is not nice to do heat and run anywhere (download and run) neither on private trackers nor on the free ones. many download torrents but forget to stay with them at seed so they can take others from them. these aspects or discussed in the tutorial called "torrent files" you find it with the search on the top right, you already know the story, and please use it more often before you ask something, ask too many questions, and too often. 2ff7e9595c
